Music has always been part of our family. Stephen’s dad, Glen, has been playing drums since he was a young child. But when Stephen was little, the sound of drums was simply too much for him. Loud noises were difficult, and he often wore headphones to block them out.

When Glen played shows, we often couldn’t even bring Stephen along because he just couldn’t tolerate the sound.

At the time, we never imagined that music would one day become such an important part of Stephen’s life.

Then, in his twenties, something changed.

We enrolled Stephen in lessons at House of Music PSL, where he began learning piano and drums. He flourished. We discovered that he has perfect pitch on the piano, and over time he became a fantastic drummer, just like his dad.

But House of Music became much more than a place where Stephen took lessons.

The Arndt family, who owns House of Music PSL, welcomed Stephen in and treated him like family. They saw his abilities, encouraged him, and gave him a place where he could grow in confidence, develop his talents, and truly belong.

After five years of lessons, that journey came full circle when House of Music offered Stephen something we once weren’t sure would ever come easily for him, a job.

Today, Stephen isn’t only a student there. He is an employee and part of the House of Music family.

And now, the little boy who once couldn’t even sit through the sound of drums can go watch his dad perform, and then get behind a drum kit himself.

From covering his ears… to playing the drums.

From missing his dad’s shows… to being there in the audience.

From taking lessons… to being hired by the very place that helped his love of music grow.
